Who is behind this
One person, writing from experience. I moved to the US from Colombia in February 2023 with no credit history and no safety net, and had to learn a completely new financial system from zero. Today I have a 790 credit score and no loans. The guides share what I actually did and use, in plain words, so people starting over don’t have to learn it the slow way.
I keep my name and personal details private on purpose. What you can check is the work: every figure on the guides links to its source, and every guide shows when it was last reviewed.
Method
How the guides are sourced and reviewed
- Numbers come from primary sources. Contribution limits, tax rules and insurance coverage link to the IRS, the CFPB or the FDIC, with the date of the announcement.
- Personal experience is labelled as experience. “What I did” is my own path. It is an example, not a recommendation for your situation.
- Every guide shows a “last reviewed” date. I re-check the figures when the source changes (for example, when the IRS announces new yearly limits) and update the date.
- Plain language, with the limits stated. Where rules vary by employer, bank or state, the guide says so instead of guessing.
- Spanish pages are written in Spanish, not machine-translated, and cover the same facts as the English ones.
Corrections
If something is wrong
If you find an error or an outdated figure, send me a message on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube. Verified corrections are made on the page and the “last reviewed” date is updated. Material changes are noted on the page.
